Kickoff Meeting Honors FCPD with UPC Distinguished Partner Award
Some 65 members and friends attended the kickoff dinner and meeting of the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County (UPC) on Aug. 27. UPC President Lisa Adler recognized Fairfax County Police Chief David Rohrer and the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) with its first UPC Distinguished Partner Award. FCPD's work with the UPC also was recently recognized by two prestigious law enforcement organizations.

Fairfax County Police Department was recognized with the UPC Distinguished Partner Award.
The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police awarded its Underage Alcohol special category award for FCPD's comprehensive efforts to deter youth involement with alcohol. The International Association of the Chiefs of Police presented its Chiefs Challenge Award second in the nation for FCPD underage alcohol efforts.
Executive Director Diane Eckert gave a State of the Coalition report. Phil Disharoon presented the report of the Underage/Binge Drinking Workgroup. Dr. Bill Hauda highlighted the activities of the Prescription Medicine

Fairfax County School Board Member Dan Storck also made brief remarks to those attending the kickoff meeting of the Unified Prevention Coalition.
And Jennifer Lewis-Cooper gave an update on the Marijuana Abuse Workgroup. Highlighting the kickoff meeting were presentations by members of the new UPC Youth Council who recently received $500 in state grants.
