Available Programs in Fairfax County:

P.R.O.T.E.C.T. ( Parents Reaching Out To Educate Communities Together) is a collaborative effort of the Unified Prevention Coalition, concerned parents, school coalitions, PTA/SA/O/SO's, Community Services Board: Wellness and Health Promotions (Alcohol & Drug Youth Services), Neighborhood and Community Services, FCPS Student Safety & Wellness Office, Fairfax County Police Department, and Substance Abuse and Recovery Alliance (SAARA) reaching out to educate and PROTECT our children, families and communities from the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

Programs: Since March 2009, P.R.O.T.E.C.T. has conducted 8 school-community programs, "Protecting Against the Realities of Substance Abuse."  The panel is comprised of parents who have experienced the negative impact of drug use by their children and recovering young adults who used drugs in high school as well as Alcohol and Drug Services, Student Assistant Program Specialists; principals; School Resource Officers; and a Fairfax County Juvenile Courts Counselor. The presentation includes:

  • Understanding the signs and symptoms of teenage drug abuse and the issues of denial and shame
  • Learning what action parents can take if they suspect abuse
  • Obtaining supportive resources

  • Monthly Meetings: P.R.O.T.E.C.T. meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at 7 p.m. at the Chantilly Alcohol and Drug Services office located at 14150 Parkeast Circle #200, Chantilly.
