Countywide Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking (CIRUD)

The Countywide Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking (CIRUD) convened its first meeting in August 2006 bringing together school-community coalitions, community organizations, and county agencies to address the epidemic of underage drinking.  Today approximately 50 organizations support the Countywide Initiative. CIRUD operates as a Task Force under the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County Public Schools and has contributed to the downward trend in use of alcohol from 2005 to 2008 according to data from the Fairfax County Youth Survey.
